Question: is anyone training for a marathon right...
Or is planning on training, or has already trained and run a marathon? I’m starting my training on January 1st!

I know I’m a bit late with the story, but I had to either wait to take this picture or wait until UC admission letters were out so I can either submit my second personal statement or write this. I have exercise-induced asthma. Before you say anything, I know that a lot of runners have asthma, but it’s always been bad enough to hold me back—way back.  Let me begin with my days...

This is my current running inspiration, Helen Diamantides, a truly awesome fell-runner and long distance runner. She ran 220 miles in foul weather over worse terrain in 5 days, and thinking about her accomplishment inspires me to push myself as far as I can. Check out her wiki page.

Inspirational Running Quotes! :) →
“I’m going to go out a winner if I have to find a high school race to win my last race.” Johnny Gray “Pressure is nothing more than the shadow of great opportunity.” Michael Johnson “I always loved running…it was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if...

this is my "inspirational story" :)
I began cross country last year. I had just started running and I could hardly finish 5 miles. My first race was a 25:58. I came in 6th out of 7 on my team. I finished last year’s season with a PR of 24:17. That winter, I decided I wanted to be a good runner. Over the summer this year, I ran about 30 miles a week. I worked hard and I came to love running more than anything else in the world....

My XC story.
My best friend Catherine is a senior and she has been running XC since her freshman year, I was a sophmore and never really ran before. She kept begging me and begging me to join the team but I didn’t really want to because I knew I wasn’t a great runner and I didn’t want to get made fun of for being the slow fat kid. When practices started she got me to go to one and I was...

brinymongoose asked: In 8th grade, awaiting track, I started having seizures. during the next 6 months, I had over 30. The MRIs showed the doctors that I had a brain tumor. I got surgery in 2009, just as summer training my freshman year was beginning. The surgery was successful, and I was seizure free. I came back with no endurance, and was 3rd slowest on a team of over 60. After my earlier successes, running 23...

jimalim320 asked: My first CC race as a freshman timed in at 33 minutes. I ranked 8 of 9 runners on our girls team, I continued to work hard to improve myself as a runner. I came back the next season taking off 3 or 4, occasionally 5, minutes of my times from the previous year. I finished my senior season ranked 3 of 14, my best race at 20:32. Not only did it pay off on the course but I was also given the honor of...
